There's a special kind of annoyance in arriving at the court and realising your balls are flat, your grip's gone slick, or you've forgotten your water. Pack your bag once, properly, and you're always ready to play. Here's the checklist.
The essentials
- Your racket — obviously. Many regulars carry a spare or a second racket too, in case of a crack or a mate turning up empty-handed.
- A fresh tube of balls — nothing kills a good session like dead balls. Keep a spare tube in the bag. (How long do they last?)
- Court shoes — proper padel shoes, not running trainers. Grip and ankle support you'll be glad of.
- Overgrips — cheap, and they transform a sweaty, slippery handle. Carry a couple. (More below.)
- Water — padel's more of a workout than it looks. A bottle lives in the bag permanently.
The nice-to-haves
- Wristbands & a cap — keep sweat off your hands and sun out of your eyes. Small things, big difference on a hot court. Browse accessories.
- A spare grip or two — so you can re-grip on the spot.
- A racket protector — guards the frame from those inevitable clips off the wall and floor.
- A small towel — for you and the handle.
And the bag itself
All of this needs somewhere to live. A dedicated padel bag — a racket bag (paletero) or a backpack — keeps your rackets protected, your shoes separate from your kit, and everything in one grab-and-go place. If you play regularly, it's the accessory that makes the rest effortless.
Pack it once, restock the balls and grips as you use them, and you'll never miss a session over a flat ball again.
